Business Intelligence

Having an in-depth knowledge of your customers, business, operations, finance, etc. demands quick access and making timely decisions from the abundance of data that is at your disposal. Abundance the data may be but it is the ability to bring them together in various forms, associating them dynamically and making them available to the right person at the right time and place that will provide your organization the edge to operate and compete effectively. Yes, business today demands instant answers.

 

WorldGroup Consulting understands these demands and the associated challenges. After all, we have helped organizations over the last 20 years generate these data through the multitude of custom-built and packaged software implementations using various forms of data store. While the traditional data warehouse architecture appears sound, they can become a hindrance when instant BI is demanded since it has to traverse the process of extraction, transformation and loading before the information is made available. WorldGroup Consulting believes that data should remain at the source since information should be up to date at all times but must be available whenever required. Today’s supporting technology makes it possible to achieve this timeliness and WorldGroup Consulting is proud to have helped organization feel the pulse of their business, seconds by seconds.

Custom Built Solutions

The requirements of a solution are entirely determined by the project aims. An off-the-shelf packaged solution is ideal if the project requires standard functionalities. The package, of course, also has to match the client’s business model.

 

On the other hand, if the project has very unique requirements, a packaged solution becomes less attractive. This is because a packaged solution cannot accommodate the flexibility required by the client’s project aims. A custom built solution then becomes the better option.

Advantages of a Custom Built Solution
  • Only the precise features that meet the requirements of the project are provided so that clients do not have to pay for unnecessary features.
  • A custom built solution can be extended quickly and easily to include new features that can also be delivered by in-house client programmers, since the amount of code is small and straight-forward to work on.
  • It is comparatively easier to use by administrators, since the tools will be specifically designed and built to fulfil the exact jobs they need to do. This results in minimal training and maximum productivity.
  • It is relatively easier to support and maintain as the complete solution can be built on open and standard technologies instead of closed and proprietary ones.
  • Building a custom built solution is not always time-consuming, as WorldGroup Consulting has a vast library of reusable codes/modules and techniques dedicated to delivering custom built applications, allowing us to not ‘re-invent the wheel’ every time we build an application.
  • Custom built solutions can be tailored to match the in-house capability of the client. This can be particularly useful if there is minimal or no technical expertise from the client’s side, or limited in-house programming expertise (maximum flexibility, minimum cost, and maximum use of in-house capability).
Service Oriented Architecture

It is widely accepted that adopting the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) provides the agility necessary for organization to respond to the ever changing business environment. Furthermore, the benefits of adopting SOA have been well documented and available in abundance. However, not many can claim to have extensive implementation experience when it comes to SOA. In this respect, WorldGroup Consulting is proud to be one of the very few who can claim so.

 

WorldGroup Consulting has been a strong advocate of SOA concepts since 2006 when we were an early adopter of SOA technology. We are proud to be one of the first in Malaysia to implement the complete suite of SOA framework. Through the early adoption and our SOA-based implementation, we have accumulated a wealth of experience that not only facilitates the successful implementation of SOA but also to guide organization in creating a road map towards an effective adoption of SOA at an enterprise level.

 

This also includes helping organization in verifying their reasons for adopting SOA, separating reality from hype, taking that first step and adopting a pragmatic structure as well as approach towards achieving the long term objectives and benefits of SOA.
